Kait Morrison

Hello, I’m Coach Kai!
Health and fitness has been an integral aspect of my life since I was very young, and now that I’m older I am fortunate enough to be able to help others pursue their health and fitness goals. My passion for health and wellness stems from my parents being advocates towards living an active and mindful lifestyle; encouraging their kids to pursue health in any capacity they choose. I chose to participate in sports when I was young, and like many in an effort to get stronger and faster; I turned to training to improve my athleticism.  After school sports had surpassed and I could no longer compete at a high enough level, my fire for training was still lit and I was able to put focus towards fitness.
Fast forward to present day and I have used that passion for fitness to create my livelihood, obtaining multiple certifications and experiencing many aspects of training and competing along the way.  I was introduced to Crossfit in late 2013 and it has kept me captivated ever since as it utilizes a constantly varied and inclusive approach to fitness. Being able to personal train and coach athletes is a privilege that I do not take lightly, and I am thankful for anyone whom I can work with to achieve their goals. Whether it is sports specific training, muscle gain, body re-composition or just generally training to feel good, I really enjoy taking a respectful and thoughtful approach to helping an athlete exceed their expectations. I am honored to be part of the Maple City Crossfit team of coaches and fitness professionals and will continue to help everyone I am able to work with lead healthy, happy lives.

transform their bodies when they were ready to give up on their fitness journey. I believe in CrossFit because I have personally seen the change in myself from a hurt individual in a globo-style gym to someone who can perform movements that I didn't think were possible for a middle aged man.

My name is Jay Hallatt.

I am very honoured to be part of such an amazing team here at MCCF. I’ve been a very active individual my entire life with skateboarding, snowboarding, martial arts and lifting weights. I truly value the importance of being healthy and physically fit, which is why I love coaching people to become the best versions of themselves. It’s a privilege to be able to help someone reach their goals and improve their quality of life.
2008 is when I first started coaching Muay Thai kickboxing and realized how much I love coaching. This led into me becoming a personal trainer. I now have 11 years experience coaching Muay Thai and 5 years experience personal training. I’ve been fortunate enough to
work with world champion bodybuilders, professional fighters and national team athletes.
HOW AND WHY?
I was first introduced to a gym when I was 12, looking to get stronger and gain muscle. Over the many years of being in a gym, I was learning and experimenting with various training principles. As a competitive martial artist, I wanted my weight training to compliment my martial arts. It was 2010, when a friend introduced CrossFit to me. After the first WOD, I knew this was what I needed, it had all the components I was looking for. Shortly thereafter, I realized it would not only improve my martial arts, but also improve EVERYTHING I did! Today I am still doing the activities I love and continue to improve within them because of the type of CrossFit.

Hi, I’m Coach Kait.
I love to work with individuals who are driven to become the best versions of themselves. Through group training, while providing individual coaching, together we can progress to achieve everyone's fitness goals. In addition to having my CrossFit Level 1, I have an educational background from an accredited nutrition program by the Dietitian's of Canada  the University of Guelph, allowing me to further aid an athlete’s development. I believe that CrossFit training is for everyone, no matter age or athletic ability, who has an ambition to meet any and all of their fitness related goals.

How did I start my CrossFit Journey?
I started CrossFit training in 2015. At the time, I had been doing the same old body building programs I had always done, which were becoming repetitive, boring, and a battle to drag myself through week in and week out. I instantly fell in love with every aspect of CrossFit: it’s challenge, community, its ability to humble you, and constant variation from one workout to the next. After committing to CrossFit training for about a year, I decided to pursue my CrossFit Level 1 in hopes of learning more in order to become a better athlete and to begin a coaching career to help others meet their true potential.

Hi, I am Coach Michelle,
I have been a certified personal trainer since 2011, and also have a bootcamp business where I have been training small groups for since 2014. As well, I have my TRX Suspension trainer certification and teach group classes. Whether working with an individual, in small groups or in a large group training session, I always strive to be positive, approachable and able to provide assistance. I believe that exercise is one of the important keys to living a happy and healthy life. I live by that motto and want to lead by example. CrossFit offers challenging variations in functional movements that every age group needs in order to maintain a strong and healthy body throughout their lives.

How did I start my CrossFit Journey?

I started CrossFit in 2014. I was ready for a greater fitness challenge and I wanted to learn something new and different. What was so exciting to me about crossfit when I first started, is still what keeps me motivated today. Learning new skills and movements and becoming better at them over time is very rewarding. Moving forward, I plan to continue to make improvements in my skills, add  some new skills, grow my base of fitness knowledge and continue to help other people meet their fitness goals.

Why is CrossFit important in my life?
Coming from a competitive hockey background, CrossFit filled that much needed void of athleticism and sport in my life. CrossFit has changed my life in a positive way and can’t imagine where I would be without it today. Not only have I become stronger, faster, and overall a better athlete, but training in CrossFit has filtered into my personal life in ways that I could have never predicted. CrossFit has taught me how to push back on the mental barriers that I have built for myself, allowing me to become more resilient, driven, and optimistic. I am thankful everyday for the opportunities CrossFit has given me.

Hi, I am Coach Tyler,
I like to work with anyone who is looking to make a positive change in their life. I believe in CrossFit as a holistic change (mind, body and soul). I was mentored by two great coaches, who taught me that there is no substitute for solid foundation of proper mechanics. I want all athletes that I coach not only to feel like they left it all on the floor, but to feel safe and accomplished after completing their workout.

How did I start my CrossFit Journey?

I started CrossFit in 2013 in a small room with a great coach and 5 other athletes. I believe in the community of CrossFit and the difference a community makes when your giving everything you have to better yourself. I have seen people do movements and weights they never dreamed they could because they were willing to put in the work. I have seen people

of how I’d been training throughout my teenage years and the areas and methods that were lacking towards the functionality of my “Fitness”.  I found myself becoming more invested into CrossFit leading to enrollment in several CrossFit certifications. Overtime, truly being able to understand the true definition of Fitness and how to attempt to achieve it is an incredible thing. Being balanced in all areas of Fitness will lead to a long and healthy life. Your functional fitness journey can begin at any age, as we do not differ by kind, but simply by degree. Here at Maple City CrossFit, I hope we are the pathway to help introduce people of ALL levels and ages to CrossFit, to change their lives for the better!

Why is CrossFit important in my life?

Being a member of this CrossFit community is very important to me. I look forward to training in this box because of the people. Sweating, lifting and sharing lives with people is what makes this a very positive, fun and comfortable place to train. CrossFit has made me so much more aware of  my fitness capabilities. I am stoked when I have performed well, reached a goal or am a bit closer to my goals. I am equally thrilled when I see others complete their best effort and I am fortunate to have witnessed many exciting moments in this CrossFit box. Those exciting moments are what keep this fitness journey going. Everyone has their own unique and personal fitness goals, but we all share common desires. Having fun, working hard and  being consistent will take your body and mind to the next level of fitness.

How did my CrossFit journey begin?

It was March 2012, I was looking for a new challenge and signed up with a new coach. He put me through 3 rounds of kettlebell swings, modified rope climbs, push-ups and wallballs- sounds pretty simple right? That's what I thought until moments later I was dripping with sweat, gasping for air wondering how something that looked so easy up on the board challenged me THAT way! Immediately intrigued by this style of training, CrossFit soon became the best hour of my day and the results and successes to follow surprised me in many ways.
I love how each WOD is not only a physical challenge but a mental one as well.
I can't wait to share with you all the benefits this sport has to offer, with the sincere hope it changes your life for the better.

As part of the Maple City CrossFit family I very much enjoy being surrounded by determined hard working athletes that inspire me every single day. The friendship and camaraderie here is a big bonus.
As coach, I value the opportunity to share my knowledge of CrossFit and all its related components as well as my own passion for the sport- and am so excited to help others learn a new technique or refine a skill. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others reach their goals, achieve new personal records and successfully overcome obstacles that once appeared insurmountable.

As most people would say, CrossFit has completely changed my life for the better. It is my passion to take my journey and experience in Health & Fitness to educate individuals and change their lives! My goal is to change the meaning of the industry and what truly defines the term “Fitness”. To train for life, unlock individual potential, and do so in a positive environment - there is nothing better! My only regret with CrossFit is that I didn’t find it sooner.

My fitness journey began when I was 13 years old and began playing Football. I started working out in a global-style gym, more so in the bodybuilding era, where bigger was better and it was “best” that bench press was a daily routine… or so I thought. After graduating high school I knew my passion was in Fitness and teaching it to others, so I pursued a career in this field.  After receiving my Fitness & Health diploma from Loyalist College, I began working as a Personal Trainer, which really was the start of me becoming a true Coach! About a year into Personal Training, my body was injured from years of overuse and poor maintenance; and l had become bored of the standard global-gym style training. A friend introduced me to CrossFit as a method of receiving my much-needed cardiovascular training, while still lifting weights. I soon came to realize there was much more than just cardio and weight-training movements in this program. My eyes were opened to the realization
